Legacy Endowments
What is an Endowment?
An endowment is a fund where the original capital is preserved and only the income is distributed to charitable causes. This ensures ongoing support for the causes the donor cares about, providing a lasting legacy.
How It Works
Donors can create a named endowment fund during their lifetime or through their estate. Funds are pooled and invested professionally. Each year, a portion of the income is granted to the donor's chosen cause or charity.

Why Resettle?
Resettling an existing charitable trust with 45South Foundation removes the burden of administration and governance. It ensures funds remain local and effective while honouring the original intent.

Giving Circles
What is a Giving Circle?
A Giving Circle is a group of individuals who pool their donations and collectively decide how to distribute the funds. It combines community spirit with collaborative philanthropy.
Our Model
We currently support Impact100 Wakatipu, a women's giving circle. Members contribute $1,000 annually to create a large grant, which is voted on by the group. This model empowers collective decision-making and maximizes impact.
Give to a Community Fund
Community Funds are at the heart of 45South Foundation’s mission. To grow local giving that supports strong, connected, and thriving places across our region.
A Community Fund is a dedicated pool of funding set up to benefit a specific organisation, like the Wakatipu High School Foundation, or a place, such as Glenorchy, or the Whakatipu Basin. These funds are guided by local people who understand their community’s needs and aspirations. Donations are invested for long-term growth, and the income generated
donated back to the fund.
You can donate to an existing Community Fund, set up a community fund, or make a bequest to help grow one that’s already here.

BforGood is our corporate initiative from the 45South Foundation designed to help businesses contribute time, skills, and financial resources strategically, making a real and lasting difference in building a thriving Whakatipu where people and place flourish.
