45South Celebrates 2025 Scholarship Recipients

Celebrating local Youth: 45 South Scholarship Recipients Recognised

We proudly brought together donors, families, and local youth to celebrate the 2025 recipients of four 45South local scholarships: the Bruce Grant Trust, the Kate Moetaua Foundation, the Lane Neave Community Scholarship, and The Wakatipu Youth Golf Development Golf Fund. The event highlighted not only the achievements of the individual recipients but also the impact that community generosity can have on shaping the futures of young people across the Whakatipu. While each scholarship is unique, they share a belief in the potential of young people and a dedication to nurturing that potential in meaningful, long-term ways. •The recipients of the Bruce Grant Youth Trust award were James Weber, Rosa Dawson, Emanuel Cardno and Joel Winter. The Bruce Grant Trust continues its mission of honouring the memory of Bruce Grant, with a special significance this year being 30 years since Bruce passed away. •The Kate Moetaua Foundation made its sixth year of grants and this year awarded a total of $3500 to Lena Ibe (dance), Katie Battrick (Hockey) Charles Manser (Rowing), Haru Kuroe (Music) Joseph Leydon (Musical Theatre) and Hugo Bogue. •The Lane Neave Community Scholarship was awarded to Manuella Sanches Pedrosa, in recognition of her commitment and contribution to the community. •The Whakatipu Youth Golf Development Fund provides opportunities for youth golfers to develop their golf skills and pursue their sporting aspirations. The fund has awarded nearly $9000 to 14 youth golfers over the last year, including support for the Whakatipu High School Golf Team. As a community, we are incredibly fortunate to have donors and funders who understand the importance of investing in young people, and having a conversation with the next generation via scholarships. These scholarships don’t just provide some financial assistance, they also build confidence, and remind recipients that they have a community behind them. We extend our warmest congratulations to this year’s recipients. Their dedication, talent, and resilience are inspiring, and we are excited to see where their journeys lead.
