Queenstown Volunteer Fire Brigade Fund

The Queenstown Volunteer Fire Brigade has a long proud history of serving its community in the Wakatipu basin since 1864.
This fund has been set up to support the volunteers with cost of living expenses in order for them to be able to serve the community.
Queenstown’s Volunteer Fire Brigade has been serving the community for over 150 years—responding to emergencies, supporting public safety, and standing ready, day and night. Behind every siren and turnout is a team of highly trained volunteers who give their time, energy, and skill to protect our region.
Now, the Queenstown Volunteer Fire Brigade Fund, established with 45South Foundation, provides practical support to the people behind the uniform—starting with one of the most pressing challenges in our region: the cost of housing.
This dedicated fund has been created to help offset accommodation costs for volunteer firefighters living in Queenstown, recognising that the rising cost of living can be a barrier to recruitment and retention. By easing this financial pressure, the fund aims to make it more sustainable for volunteers to live locally and serve their community.
Held as a permanent endowment, the fund is designed to grow over time—ensuring ongoing support for generations of volunteers to come.
It’s a simple idea with big impact: when we look after our volunteers, they can keep looking after us.
